One of the reasons leaders like this knot is because it is easy to untie, so always back it up with half of a double fisherman's knot, as shown in the sequence's last illustration. â Harness is on properly with buckles doubled-back or otherwise secured as dictated by style of the harness.
â Anchored properly (if anchored belayer is desired or required).
â Belay device is properly loaded.
â Carabiners are locked.
â Rope is properly flaked on the floor and is free of kinks.
Checking the Climber (checked by both members of the team)
â Harness is on properly with buckles doubled-back or otherwise secured as dictated by style of the harness.
â Rope passes through necessary points on harness and knot is tied correctly.
